Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes what information www.chronicous.com ("Website", “Chronicous”, “we”) collects and what it's used for. It applies to all interactions with Chronicous, including content posted on the Website and any communication with Choronicous.

Your use of and/or registration with Chronicous will constitute your agreement to this Privacy Policy. If you cannot agree to the terms and conditions set forth below, please do not use the Chronicous services.

The Privacy Policy may be modified from time to time; continued access of the Website by you will constitute your acceptance of any changes or revisions to the Privacy Policy. If changes are made, Chronicous will notify users.

Chronicous is a platform that allows you to share a story about anything you want on any topic you want. Chronicous collects some information in order for you to have an account you can use to participate on the site, and other information that is necessary to make the service work. Chronicous doesn’t sell or profit from the information you share with the Website.

We undertake significant efforts to make sure the platform keeps working properly. This includes using your information, where necessary, to stop spam and gaming and other activities that violate the User Agreement. Chronicous also shares your information when legally required to do so.

When you create an account, you are required to provide a username, password, email, gender and age. Chronicous also logs the IP address from which the account is initially created.

The posts and comments you make on Chronicous are not private. This means that, by default, they are not deleted from the servers, and may still be accessible after your account is deleted. However, Chronicous only saves the most recent version of comments and posts, so your previous edits, once overwritten, are no longer available. You may however change or delete any story you have posted through your account.

Your messages to Chronicous are only viewable by the parties involved, but they may be accessed internally as needed for community support. Moreover, Chronicous keeps a log of all messages sent on the service.

Chronicous may store the IP addresses associated with specific posts, comments, and private messages for a short period after they are made or sent.

Log data is certain information that is automatically collected by the systems when you visit Chronicous, including the type of software used to access the site (browser, operating system, etc.), the address of the external or internal page that referred you, and your IP address. This information may be recorded from visitors to the Website, but will be deleted from the servers after a short period of time.

As you interact with Chronicous as an account holder, Chronicous records certain information about these interactions such as your preferences, notifications, ratings you provide, and date of last login.

It takes a lot of work to keep the site running and prevent abuse, and Chronicous sometimes uses your data in order to facilitate this. Your information is used internally only where necessary to provide the services. For instance, Chronicous keeps IP addresses for a short period of time in order to investigate issues with the site, track and block suspected spammers, and otherwise maintain the integrity of the community.

Your private information is never for sale. Chronicous will not share your personal data without your consent, unless it is otherwise permitted in this policy.

Anonymous, aggregated information that cannot be linked back to an individual user may be made available to third parties.

Chronicous will not disclose your information unless required by law.

Chronicous may disclose – or preserve for future disclosure – your information if it believed, after due consideration, that doing so is reasonably necessary to comply with a law, regulation, or valid legal process. If Chronicous is going to release your information, it will do its best to provide you with notice in advance via your email unless Chronicous is prohibited by court order from doing so.

Your information may be disclosed by Chronicous in an emergency or to keep the services running.

Other extraordinary circumstances may require disclosure: We may also disclose your information when we believe it's necessary to prevent imminent and serious bodily harm to a person; to address fraud, security, or spam; or to protect Chronicous’ rights or property.

At Chronicous, cookies for tracking user preferences, authentication, and collecting anonymous analytics data are administered. Additionally, advertising partners may set cookies.

When you log into your account, Chronicous will place a cookie for the sole purpose of creating this session. It contains your user id and hashed authentication information.

Chronicous uses a tool called Google Analytics to help understand how users interact with the website. It provides aggregate usage and traffic information, such as how the site was accessed, how long visitors stayed, and the number of first-time visitors to the site. By knowing how people use the site, Chronicous can make it better. To learn more about Google Analytics and how it uses your data, please visit http://www.google.com/analytics/learn/privacy.html.

You may choose to delete your Chronicous account at any time. The usernames associated with deleted accounts remain unavailable for others to use, and your public profile is no longer visible to users of the site. However, the posts and content you made during your tenure as a Chronicous user will not be automatically deleted as part of the account removal process. You may however delete or change any of your stories, comments and ratings before you delete your account.

We will make every effort to secure any private information submitted to Chronicous by the users. However, no data transmission over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee the absolute security of this data. You use the service at your own risk, and are responsible for taking reasonable measures to secure your account (such as carefully maintaining the secrecy of your password).

Although Chronicous welcomes users from all walks of life, the site is not aimed at persons under the age of 13. Individuals under the age of 13 may not create an account with Chronicous. If you believe someone 12 or younger is using the site without parental consent, please contact us.
